Isabelle Navarro Vinten has been appointed as the new Deputy Director responsible for public sector services at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS), with effect from 1 November 2026. She joins GEUS from a post as Deputy Director at the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and has many years’ experience in management, public sector services and political decision-making processes.

Isabelle Navarro Vinten will take up her post as the new Deputy Director of GEUS on 1 November 2026.

GEUS has appointed Isabelle Navarro Vinten as its new Deputy Director with responsibility for public sector services. She joins from a post as Deputy Director at the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, where she has been since 2020.

Isabelle Navarro Vinten has worked for a number of years with public sector services, management and policy development in the environmental sector. As Deputy Director at the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, her responsibilities included the Centre for Clean Water and the Centre for Safe Chemicals. Previously, she served as Head of Division at the Ministry of Environment and Food and at the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, as well as Head of Development and Secretariat at the Nature and Environment Appeals Board.

She holds a Master’s degree in Business and Law from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and has also completed an Executive Education programme in management at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Lars Nielsen, Managing Director at GEUS, is looking forward to welcoming Isabelle Navarro Vinten to the management at GEUS:

“Isabelle brings solid management experience and a deep understanding of how ministries and agencies operate. These are important skills at a time when the authorities are moving closer to the research community and seeking research-based advice. With Isabelle on board, we are better placed to put GEUS’ expertise to good use, whilst safeguarding our professional independence.”

Aiming to bridge the gap between research and the public authorities

For Isabelle Navarro Vinten, it was, in particular, the opportunity to bring GEUS’ research and expertise even more to the fore that made the role of Deputy Director so attractive.

“GEUS tackles some of the very biggest challenges facing our society, and that is both an exciting and important task. That’s why I was delighted to accept when I was offered the post,” she says.

One of Isabelle Navarro Vinten’s key tasks will be to strengthen the interaction between GEUS and the public authorities that utilise the organisation’s research-based knowledge and advice.

“I believe that GEUS can become even better at bridging the gap between research, policy development and practical implementation. I will work to bring these two worlds closer together and foster more collaborations and relationships, so that GEUS’ expertise is put to use where the authorities need it,” she says.

Already familiar with GEUS

Isabelle Navarro Vinten is no stranger to GEUS. For the past six years, as a representative of the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, she has served as an ex officio member of the GEUS Board of Directors, and as such she already has an in-depth understanding of the organisation and its areas of work.

She is now looking forward to getting to know both the organisation’s expertise and its employees even better.

“I am particularly looking forward to learning more about the many areas of research at GEUS and the people behind them. I am fundamentally very interested in the natural sciences and in people who can communicate and explain their expertise. And I’m also looking forward to becoming part of the management and, together with the rest of GEUS, working on the organisation’s new direction and strategy,” says Isabelle Navarro Vinten.

Isabelle Navarro Vinten will take up her post as Deputy Director responsible for public sector services on 1 November 2026.
