GEUS undertakes mineralogical and petrological studies to improve the understanding of the geological development of Greenland and its economic potential. Mineralogical studies include investigations of ore minerals of known deposits such as composi-
tional fingerprinting of ruby from Greenland, geochemical typing of soapstone, and compositions and alteration of eudialyte, ilmenite and other minerals, intermetallic compounds and alloys of platinum group metals and gold. Petrological studies focus on the genesis of mineral deposits and metamorphic and magmatic associations in general.
