New 2D seismic datasets from Bornholm released

Published 25-11-2025

Seismic datasets from Bornholm are now made available on our Deep Subsurface Data Portal as part of GEUS’ work to make older archive data accessible.

GEUS is the national data repository for deep seismic data and has received and archived data from seismic surveys since 1948. Newer 3D data, wells and GEUS’ more recently collected data are available on the platform, and now we are working on making older 2D datasets from the archive accessible as well. All via the GEUS Deep Subsurface Data Portal.

Some of the early digital seismic 2D data that GEUS has received back in time lack positional information and therefore cannot be immediately used in modern data-interpretation software. Over the past few years, GEUS has embedded this missing information into various older datasets, significantly increasing their usability.

Now, all our released 2D seismic datasets from Bornholm have been uploaded to the data portal.

Details about the available processing versions can be found here via direct links to the eight newly released datasets:

The released datasets are available as various processing types in SEGY format, along with different navigation datasets and acquisition and processing reports.

Through the Deep Subsurface Data Portal, free download is available for released processed data from deeper 2D surveys from virtually all archived land-based surveys, from near-shore surveys in the North Sea, from the inner Danish waters, and now also from the waters around Bornholm.

We are continuously working on making more older archive data accessible. If you have questions about specific data, please contact info-data@geus.dk.
