Aurélien Mordret, Professor in Seismology, Department of Geophysics and Sedimentary Basins
Camilla Snowman Andresen, Professor in Arctic Climate Evolution, Department of Glaciology and Climate
Henrik Ingermann Petersen, Professor in Carbon Storage, Department of Geo-energy and Storage
Nanna B. Karlsson, Professor in Glacier Dynamics, Department of Glaciology and Climate
Sofia Ribeiro, Professor in Arctic Climate Evolution, Department of Glaciology and Climate
Thomas Funck, Professor in Seismic Interpretation and Modelling, Department of Geophysics and Sedimentary Basins
William Colgan, Professor in Glacier Dynamics, Department of Glaciology and Climate
International, high-quality research
There are clear expectations of the new professors: with their research, they will contribute to solving some of our biggest climate, energy and environmental challenges. In addition, they will support GEUS’ vision to be at the forefront of exploring, monitoring and mapping geological resources and processes.
“GEUS plays a central role in obtaining, interpreting and disseminating some of the essential data we need for the green transition and climate adaptation in Denmark. Therefore, we need to have skilled people at the forefront of research in these areas. At the same time, it is important that they have an international outlook and are able to share this new knowledge with the outside world,” says Flemming Larsen, Managing Director at GEUS.
The board has no doubt that the chosen candidates can deliver high-level research, but these are not the only positive expectations for the newly minted professors:
“The professors have all proven that they can deliver high-quality research. Each of them also possesses qualities, which meet our requirements for professors, and which are in line with GEUS’ values,” says Lars Nielsen, Deputy Director at GEUS.
The values in question are: ‘Freedom with responsibility’, ‘Collaboration’, ‘Excellent research and professionalism’ and ‘Outlook and development’.
The professors have taken up their new positions on 1 August 2024.
