The European research project KINDRA is in the process of mapping European research and knowledge within hydrogeology to create a better platform for the future management of the European groundwater resources. The mapping will contribute to identify challenges in the management of the European groundwater and gaps in our knowledge.
No. 7, no. 1 and no. 2 on the European groundwater research top 10
Researchers participating in the KINDRA project have for instance looked at the publishing activities of the European research institutions within groundwater. The investigation includes the number of publications, authors and citations of the articles. The results rank GEUS as the seventh most active institution within European groundwater research, expressed by number of publications from 2010 to 24 August 2015. If you take a look at the number of publications per author (number of active researchers at the institution) and number of citations per author, GEUS is ranked as no. 1 and no. 2 on the European top 10 list.
The results are derived from searches of the words groundwater or ground water in Elseviers Scopus / SciVal database the largest database for abstracts and citations of peer-reviewed literature.
According to Scopus more than 2000 papers were published on groundwater in peer reviewed international journals by the top 10 publishing institutions. GEUS published 172 research papers during the evaluated period.
