Department of Geophysics is primarily engaged in solving geological and geophysical tasks within the programme areas: energy resources, nature and environment.
Activities include participation in research projects (both national and international), mapping and exploration in cooperation with state agencies and contract assignments especially for oil companies.
The department's researchers and geophysicists are involved in a considerable number of projects with multi-disciplinary approach. We use advanced modelling and mapping tools for our exploration tasks, such as basin modelling and mapping of oil and gas fields.
The department has a staff of 30 experienced and dedicated men and women of high internationally recognised standard, working within a broad range of geological and geophysical subjects in relation to the deep underground. Together with the two other departments working with energy at GEUS, i.e. Reservoir Geology and Stratigraphy, we are active within geoscientific and energy related projects.
