Seismic 2D dataset from the North Sea now available

Published 24-04-2025

A new data set from our data archive is now available at the data portal Danske Undergrundsdata as part of GEUS' effort to make historic data accessible.

Newly released 2D seismic dataset in the North Sea (GEUS)

GEUS is the national databank for deep seismic data and has thus received and archived data from seismic surveys since 1948. In recent years, GEUS has worked on releasing 2D datasets from the archive and the latest addition is a seismic 2D dataset from a large section of the North Sea collected in 2013.

The dataset is called 'DKR13 - Denmark Renaissance 2D project' and is available at Danske Undergrundsdata with details found here: Processing summary sheet

The dataset show deep layers of the seabed collected in 2013 by TGS Nopec AS in the western and central part of the Danish North Sea sector. It includes 78 2D line sections spanning 8,764 kilometers at water depths between 20 and 75 meters. The main objective of this collection was to create a homogeneous, high-quality data set and thereby improve the understanding of the deeper parts of the sedimentary basins across the Danish North Sea.

More free data

The released dataset is available as different processing types in SEGY format, different navigation datasets and collection and processing reports. Danske Undergrundsdata holds a broad range of open access processed data from deep 2D surveys from virtually all archived land-based surveys and coastal surveys in the North Sea and inland Danish waters.
