Economic geology

GEUS studies possible sources for metals and fluids, their pathways, and mechanisms leading to metal precipitation, in order to develop metallogenic models for mineral occurrences, mainly in Greenland.

This modelling, undertaken with partners from academic organisations and from the industry, contributes to a better understanding of the components and the extent of mineralising systems, and the processes leading to mineral concentration and ore formation. Ultimately, these models assist and improve exploration targeting, thereby reducing exploration risk.
